Stir Crazy

During this time, it is very easy to go “stir crazy” from being stuck inside your house for so long. It has been important for me to try and stay busy, so I don’t completely lose my mind. I start my day by doing homework for my classes and meeting with my group members. I then usually go for a run or do some type of exercise outside since gyms are closed. I look forward to this because it is a chance for me to get out of my house and enjoy the outdoors. After this I try to do a fun activity such as zooming with my friends or tie dying sweatshirts. In the evening, I usually watch movies or play games with my family. When we were first forced to stay home, I was constantly thinking about how negative the situation was and all the things I couldn’t do. I realized this was the wrong way to go about the situation and I have tried to be more positive and change my mindset. Having a positive mindset helps the days go by faster and makes quarantine more bearable.

The Future of Travel

The outbreak of the coronavirus has impacted many industries and businesses over the past month. One industry that has been hit hard during this pandemic is the travel industry. Air travel has decreased by 90% and international travel is currently not an option for any Americans. Many places that were once crowded tourist destinations now remain empty leaving an eery feeling. This leaves us to wonder what does the future of travel look like after the travel bans have been lifted? Many people are still cautious to travel with 52% of people saying they would be willing to travel six months after the travel ban is lifted. Despite this fact, there are many adventure seekers out there and there will always be people who want to travel and go on vacation.

Bored in the House and I’m in the House Bored!

The song I chose to review was “Bored in the House” by Tyga and Curtis Roach. The song was released in early March and went viral after the Stay at Home order was released. It became so popular and prompted people to make Tik Toks showing that they were “bored in the house”. I chose this song because I felt that it was very relatable to what myself and many others are going through right now. Although, there aren’t many other words in the song, the message is clear and hits home. As the days go by I find myself getting more and more bored because there is LITERALLY NOTHING to do.

Spring Breakers

Its that time of year again when groups of friends are getting together to go away on a spring break trip that they have been waiting for all year. This year it is a little different. The trips that have been planned for months are suddenly being put on hold with the looming threat of the coronavirus. Countless people have canceled their spring break plans and lost hundreds of dollars in fear that they too will catch the virus. Many airlines and hotels have started offering reimbursements for travelers in order to avoid the spread of the virus. Although the virus can be deadly there is a vast majority of students who have waited all year for their spring break week and can’t fathom having to cancel their plans.

Food Glorious Food!

As a junior, I was extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy. During the semester I learned a lot about myself, and was introduced to new foods, cultures, and experiences. My favorite part of abroad was obviously the food. Florence had some of the freshest and delicious food I have ever tasted in my life. Almost every night, my friends and I would eat out and try a new place. The best part about Italy was that every restaurant was amazing so it didn’t matter if we had never heard of it before. In addition, I took a cooking class and learned how to make so many amazing Italian dishes that I was able to make for my family. Some of my favorite foods while I was there included blueberry steak, homemade pasta, panini’s, and pizza.

Super-bowl Commercials

Every February millions of people gather together to watch two of the top teams compete in the Super Bowl. Some actually care about the game, but most others are only watching to see the Super Bowl commercials. The commercials have become such an important part of the experience and cost a staggering $5.6 million for one 30-second ad. USA Today ranked the top commercials this year and found that the top 3 included “Jeep Groundhog Day”, “Smaht Pak”, and “Loretta”.

Coronavirus

Over the past few weeks, all the major news outlets have been following the outbreak of the coronavirus. The virus is said to have originated from the Wuhan meat and fish markets in China where the virus hopped from animals to humans. Scientists are comparing the virus to the SARS outbreak in 2003 which claimed the lives of 345 people. The death toll for the coronavirus has now reached 425 deaths and has spread to other countries outside of China. Since the outbreak, China has closed the Wuhan market and put the city on lockdown.

Deep Fake

Deep Fakes can cause deep trouble!

This video discusses the increased use of deep fakes and how it can negatively impact a person. Specifically it talked about the 2020 presidential election and how deep fakes will likely be used to make it seem like a candidate is saying something that they never said.

The Pentagon is trying to stop deep fakes and is conducting extensive research to try and get ahead of Deepfakes before it becomes a bigger problem.
